Vendors' Day, 29 May 2008
Staff and students were invited to attend a special event on Thursday 29 May 2008.
Key external information vendors were asked to present their insights on "The future of scholarly information and technologies: a 10 year view". Each vendor gave a 30-minute presentation with time for questions at the end.
The event was held in Theatre 3, Alan Gilbert Building.

About the presenters
Carolyne Cohn is the Blackwell Area Sales Manager for Victoria, Western Australia and metropolitan Brisbane. She has an Associate Diploma in Librarianship (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the Australian National University. Carolyne has over 20 years experience in librarianship, including 12 years as an acquisitions librarian, at the Parliamentary Library in Canberra. She has worked for library vendors for the last 20 years, joining Blackwell in 1996.
Stephen Atherton is National Development Executive, Higher Education, for Apple. Read his biography at the Ausweb 2008 conference site.

Richard Siegersma is Executive Chairman of DA Information Services and holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Monash University. Richard has over 20 years' experience in the information and publishing industry in Australia and the USA. During that time he has established a number of businesses including CD-ROM distribution, document delivery and online learning and training. His focus continues to be in the publishing and distribution business through leading the team that acquired DA Information Services in 2005. The company has a regional focus with a sales office in Singapore and recently established an Australian wholesale book service to improve the book supply chain. Over the years Richard has helped develop innovative solutions that assist libraries and information providers to successfully implement electronic information products into their service offering. The latest development is an integrated solution for managing access to learning resources including electronic textbooks. Richard is also a non executive director of Computelec Australia’s largest full service solution provider of computer tablets, notebooks and educational resources to the education sector.
Oren Beit-Arie joined Ex Libris Group in 1988 and since then has been deeply involved in the design and the development of all Ex Libris products. In 2000, Oren led Ex Libris' e-resources strategy with the introduction of the SFX link resolver and the development of the OpenURL standard. Most recently, He has been deeply involved in Primo as part of his responsibility for the overall research and strategic activities of the company. He is also actively involved in a range of industry and standards setting activities and is currently a member of NISO's architecture committee.
